Packing up and heading Glamping!

11 Jul

In just a couple of days my daughter, my mom, and myself will be packing up and heading to camp! We’ll be dropping me daughter off for Girl Scout camp and since it’s a long ways from home we’re going to do some camping ourselves!

Last year we scouted out locations in the area and fell in love with Fort Davis and Davis Mountains State park. Fort Davis is a totally awesome little town with a funky little health food store, historic buildings, and a cute little bistro! Check out Davis Mountains State Park: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/davis-mountains  Tell me you are fascinated with how beautiful it is for being West-ish Texas? You didn’t expect it did you?

Last year we did lots of sightseeing and letter boxing and checked out Sul Ross State University (my parents went to college there) and visited the Marfa Prada (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prada_Marfa) I’m not kidding! We sure wished though that we had brought our sewing machines and just set up camp at the state park and enjoyed it more.

So recently my friend Terror let me borrow a book that is all about camping (more glamours than regular camping of course) and now I REALLY want to renovate an old airstream. Check out the author’s renovation at http://www.internationalglampingweekend.com

Soooo cool! This weekend we’ll be camping in style in my mom’s very modern motorhome but maybe in the next few years I’ll have my own glamping trailer put together. Certainly looking forward to no interruptions (our cell phones didn’t work in the park) and lots of time to finish up our latest quilting projects! There will certainly be photos and info to come!

I have a Pinterest board dedicated to glamping. Maybe when I win the lottery. And there is no place like homw {west Texas / Brewster & Jeff Davis County}.
