I’m Back!

15 Feb

Guess there is no time like the present to make it “Facebook Official”

After a year of lots of ups and downs attempting and failing to move to Portales and starting a job at ENMU that I do truly love I was given an ultimatum at work last week. Move to Portales or resign. Those of you that know the hubby’s boss, Mr. Baker, know that he has been incredibly kind and generous and Ronan really struggled with the idea of moving. After aggressively trying to sell our house in Las Cruces with no luck we found it to be not feasible to move. The last few months I’ve made the drive back and forth to Portales more times than I can count.

I’ve never been sure of what direction my life was going to take. I’ve always been told I could do anything if I set my mind to it and the last twelve years of an unexpected career in education I’ve done just that. I’ve worked as hard as I could to do the best that I could for my students but I’ve never been able to conform to this system we call education.

The last two years I’ve realized that my greatest purpose is with my family and the time that I can spend with my children ensuring them a well-rounded education and all of the time I can give them can finally take center stage.

My mom is retiring this year too so we decided maybe it’s time to take a leap and see what we can stir up.

Unfolding the next few months are several projects. First of all we are working hard to finish the Bonito Lou’s vacation cabin project and have it available for rental in May. Second we will be expanding  The Family Farm & Rock Creek Ranch with a couple of new ventures- in particular quilting services and commercial embroidery work in addition to our farm fresh eggs and goat milk products!

I wish you the very best of luck. Sometimes these lost opportunities are what open the doors to your own kind of awesome. I am experiencing this myself. Hopes of goats, chickens and life on my own terms. BTW, I attended ENMU in 1988 but graduated from State in Las Cruces.

Thank you! I’m also an ENMU alumni 2004! I’m glad I took the opportunity to work there, a little sad that it was short lived. I am excited to take the opportunity to jump off though. I’ve been so close before and in the end safety of a steady job has always lured me in.
